And I, your fishing buddy have dozens of very happy memories of heading out on a fishing trip with my wife and kids in tow, and it was a privilege to teach them how to fish and how to find and hook the big ones.

My small daughter Kobes, just 8 years old, hooked a 10 pound snapper on one fishing expedition and by the time she got it to shore she looked all worn out but she wore the biggest grin of all time.

Which just goes to prove that fishing in Australia suits all types of people of all ages.

When fishing in Australia there are literally hundreds of different recreational fish species and great destinations and as your new fishing friend let me tell you that I have been to and fished at many of them.

From the very tip of the gulf of Carpentaria in Northern Queensland all the way down the east coast of Australia to Melbourne and then over to the West coast fishing all the way across Victoria and fishing all the way across South Australia and then it was time to cross over the Nullabor plain and calling into various spots on the coast, for some fishing, when we could get down to the beach that is after that we kept heading west until we reached Western Australia and Perth.

Then it was up the West coast starting near Esperance all the way to Kununurra in the Kimberley before returning to Perth to live. Boy!! It seems that I have nearly been everywhere to fish.

And all our various states have different state rules and regulations when it comes to where you can fish, what you can catch etc. Here are the rules pertaining to...

Fishing in Australia can either be all excitement or a day of quiet relaxation with a bit of action here and there. You heave back your rod, your arms hurt, your back aches and your thigh muscles scream in pain but you have hooked a huge Spanish Mackerel or a yellow fin tuna, maybe it was a Marlin or sailfish and all is forgotten as the adrenalin is flowing and all pain is gone.

You are now in the fight of your life time and how proud will you be mate? when you finally get that big one on board.

AHH! It's the dream of a life time. So don't hang back, get out there and start catching the big ones.
